Zumbathon: “I dance for education”.

A total of 265 children’s books were collected through the Zumbathon “I dance for education”, which took place at the Olof Palme Convention Center, bringing together more than 120 people who enjoyed music, good energy and above all a lot of dancing. Organized by Good Neighbors to promote reading from an early age, the Zumbathon exceeded all expectations thanks to the generosity of the participants and the support of several sponsors and collaborating brands. Among the main sponsors were: Librería Hispamer, Electrolit, Sólido and Baho Vilma, while Claro Nicaragua, CINA, Zepol, Yahoska Álvarez Salón y Spa, Clínica Ikigai, and On Promocionales also provided their support to make this initiative possible. The four Zumba instructors, along with the DJ and the event’s entertainer, offered their services altruistically, demonstrating their commitment to the initiative and contributing to the positive atmosphere of the Zumbathon. The event not only provided a space for dancing and fun, but also achieved its goal of collecting 265 children’s books. These books will be distributed to create 5 story corners in five schools in Santa Teresa-Carazo, providing children with learning and entertainment that will foster their love of reading and reinforce their educational development. Miguel Martinez, communications analyst for Good Neighbors, expressed his thanks to everyone who made the event possible. “More than 400 children are going to have the chance to enjoy story corners thanks to everyone’s support. We thank each of the people and companies that have joined and believed in us,” he stated during the event. The results of the zumbaton reflected the solidarity of the community in promoting reading among the little ones. It is important to mention that Good Neighbors hopes to continue with this initiative in the future.

Charity Event to Enable Storytelling Corners in Rural Schools in Santa Teresa.

On Saturday, August 24, starting at 8:30 am, at the Olof Palme Convention Center, the charity event “Zumbatón Yo Bailo por la Educación” (I Dance for Education) will take place.

This event aims to enable five story corners in rural schools in Santa Teresa, thus promoting reading and education in 222 boys and 204 girls, through the books that participants donate.

To participate in this Zumbathon, people must purchase a children’s storybook at any of the Librerías Hispamer branches or through its online store. The first 150 people to arrive at the event will receive a welcome kit.

The event will be attended by leading Zumba instructors Carolina Palacios, Leyla Roque, Jossheline Morales and Fernando Castillo, who will make this an unforgettable day full of energy and fun.

Reading is a fundamental tool in the cognitive and emotional development of children. It fosters imagination, improves language, reading comprehension, and contributes to the development of critical skills such as concentration and analytical skills. In rural areas, where access to educational resources may be limited, story corners become vital spaces to encourage a love of reading from an early age.

Story corners not only provide access to books, but also create a welcoming and stimulating environment where children can explore new ideas, learn about different cultures and develop a sense of curiosity and creativity. By investing in these spaces, we are sowing the seeds for quality education and a brighter future for new generations.

Promoting oral health among the youngest children

In an effort to promote oral health among children, Colgate has donated 6,000 oral hygiene kits to rural schools served by Good Neighbors International in Carazo. This generous contribution aims to improve oral hygiene practices and, consequently, the general health of children in this department.

The delivery event took place at the Hermanos de Finlandia School in Santa Teresa, where Mario Méndez, Colgate’s representative, had the opportunity to actively participate. During his visit, Méndez not only handed out the kits, but also took the time to talk to the students. She explained to them the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and how the correct use of the products they received can prevent common dental diseases.

The collaboration between Colgate and Good Neighbors International is an inspiring example of how partnerships between the private sector and non-profit organizations can have a positive impact on vulnerable communities. Thanks to these kits, the children of Carazo now have access to adequate information and essential products to take care of their oral health, which is fundamental for their integral development and well-being, says Yeril Saravia, operations manager of Good Neighbors International.

This initiative not only provides the necessary resources, but also educates and raises awareness among children about the importance of good oral hygiene from an early age. Colgate reaffirms its commitment to the health and well-being of communities. The impact of this donation will be significant and lasting, contributing to the formation of healthy habits that will accompany these children throughout their lives.

Thank you, Colgate, for making a difference in Carazo!
